Why shingles come off on the First Coast
Asphalt shingles hold together with a heat-activated seal strip. Once that strip is broken, by age, by a previous gust, or by installation in cool conditions where it never fully bonded, the tab is loose and the next strong wind takes it. Nailing is the other factor.
